INHERITANCE

If you have recently lost a loved one, then dealing with paperwork and a different legal system can be both daunting and upsetting. If you are a beneficiary or you have been appointed as an executor to an estate, then you (or your legal representative) will need to produce a large amount of original documentation accompanied by an official translation into Spanish in order to accept, reject or administer an inheritance in Spain. The documents which you will need to have translated are:

  1. Death certificate
  2. Will
  3. Probate
  4. Birth and sometimes marriage certificates to prove the identity and relation of the beneficiary to the deceased.
  5. On some occasions where the signing Notary needs further evidence of your right to inherit or administer an estate, you may be required to produce a Certificate or Affidavit of English Law.
